2023 annual report
Annual report 2023
Paris, July 2, 2023
Our 2023 annual report looks back on our actions to make economic, social and cultural rights a reality for all.
At Human Dignity, we recognize our role in bolstering local and international actions for justice, ending the oppression of marginalised populations and enhancing the enjoyment of economic, social and cultural rights. It is for this reason that we continue to deepen our understanding of the diverse contexts in Africa – working with local NGOs in developing strategies for the realisation of economic, social and cultural rights.
Whilst 2023 was challenging in regard to resource mobilization, Human Dignity was able to provide technical support to various national partners in Africa to undertake their missions.
Human Dignity also continued to develop its work and support the integration of human rights in development programs, projects and policies in diverse contexts. Thanks to our recognised expertise and at the request of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Development Agency, we undertook various capacity strengthening programmes on human rights-based approaches to development.
This is a first step to ensure the French and European cooperation policies become effectively centred on peoples' real needs and fundamental rights. In 2024 and the years to come, we hope to be able to accompany our African partners, NGOs and policy makers alike, to progressively integrate such an approach. Finally, to ensure a decolonized approach, we have already started to map what French NGOs working on the African continent are doing to move towards a rights holders approach rather than one based on passive beneficiaries.
At Human Dignity, we remain committed to our goal and hope that 2024 will usher new opportunities for accelerating this important work with old and new partners and donors.
We thank our talented team, interns, volunteers as well as our partners across Africa for their continued collaboration.
Thank you for your continued support. We welcome your feedback and engagement.
